Three Astronauts Visit SAASST as part of the "Astronauts" Season 2

Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko and NASA Astronauts Scott Kelly and Nicole Stout took a souvenir picture with Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah and SAASST General Director, underneath the ISS at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology on Oct. 04, 2021.

 

The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology received the visit of the Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko and NASA Astronauts Scott Kelly and Nicole Stout as part of the TV "Astronauts" series. HE Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah and SAASST General Director, welcomed them at the academy and exchanged friendly discussions with the cosmonaut and astronauts about their experience in space. The three space scientists spent the whole day at the academy interviewing candidates for the astronauts' TV series.

 

Who is NASA Astronaut Nicole Stout?

Nicole Marie Passonno Stott is an American engineer and a retired NASA astronaut. She served as a Flight Engineer on ISS Expedition 20 and Expedition 21 and was a Mission Specialist on STS-128 and STS-133. After 27 years of working at NASA, the space agency announced her retirement effective June 1, 2015.

 

Who is Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko?

Mikhail Borisovich Kornienko is a Russian cosmonaut. Kornienko served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station during Expedition 23/24 and was selected along with Scott Kelly for a year-long mission aboard the ISS. Kornienko began the year-long mission in March 2015, blasting off on Soyuz TMA-16M.

 

Who is NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly?

Scott Joseph Kelly is an American engineer, retired astronaut, and naval aviator. A veteran of four space flights, Kelly commanded the International Space Station on Expeditions 26, 45, and 46. Kelly's first spaceflight was as a pilot of the Space Shuttle Discovery during STS-103 in December 1999.
