Ms. Shelli discussed the growing opportunities for space technology innovation in the $447 billion space economy and the importance of global collaboration. Today, virtually every community, infrastructure, and aspect of modern life is profoundly reliant on or affected by space technologies. These innovations span weather forecasting, new materials for manufacturing goods, advanced global communications, healthcare discoveries, and precision farming — all of which impact societies and regions across the globe.
Advocating for space technology innovation and entrepreneurship, Ms. Shelli discussed her Space Foundation collaboration with commercial, government, and educational sectors around the globe — Asia, UAE, and Africa — on initiatives for space commerce, young professionals, teacher development, and space-inspired curriculum.
A panel discussion was also organized to discuss further this global space collaboration and its benefit to planet Earth. Prof. Ilias, the SAASST Deputy General Director for Research, invited Ms. Shelli, Prof. Mashhoor Wardat (SAASST Deputy General Director for Academics), Dr. Anotnios Manousakis (Assistant Professor at the Department for Applied Physics and Astronomy), and Mr. Marwan Shwaiki (SAASST Deputy General Director for Planetarium) to the panel board to talk about the space programs and their impact on Earth from all point of view. The audience was very pleased with the informative discussion.
The workshop was organized through the US Consulate Mission in Dubai. Ms. Lejla Schwoebel, the Associate Public Diplomacy Officer, helped SAASST to secure Ms. Shelli's venue to the academy.
