HE Sheikh Sultan took the opportunity to visit the large SAAST meteorite collection and the research laboratories, especially the CubeSat laboratory. The research assistants took a turn to explain the different research programs at the academy and the important contribution of the academy to space sciences in the MENA world. HE Sheikh Sultan was very impressed and showed great interest in the coming launch of the Sharjah-Sat-1 CubeSat. Prof. Ilias Fernini, the SAASST Deputy General Director for Research, highlighted the role of the research laboratories in training the students for their internships during the summer period. Some of these students will, later on, join the research laboratories as full research assistants.
HE Sultan Sheikh also visited the planetarium with a special show organized by Mr. Marwan Shwaiki, the Deputy General Director for Public Outreach. Prof. Hamid explained the unique role of the planetarium in astronomy education and its future upgrade. Prof. Mashhoor Al-Wardat, the SAASST Deputy General for Academics, and Mr. Mohamed Talafha organized a special astronomy observing session during the dinner.
