SAASST Participates in the 71st International Astronautical Congress 2020 Cyber Space Edition

The 71st International Astronautical Congress, IAC 2020, is organized as a Cyberspace Edition without registration fee, free of charge for a global community. This will allow the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) to reach out to new communities and stakeholders that would typically not have the means and/or time to travel to an IAC physically.

The theme of the IAC 2020 – The CyberSpace Edition will indeed be about the IAF Motto: "IAF Connecting @ll Space People." The IAF has understood that all the measures to address the COVID-19 pandemic that rely on social distancing and social isolation are placing a considerable strain on communities. As the world is grappling with this massive challenge, the Federation's role in the space community has become of paramount importance in connecting people back together.

The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology is participating in this important event with 8 research papers covering most of its laboratories: "CubeSat Laboratory," "Radio Astronomy Lab," "Planetary Sciences Lab," "Sharjah Lunar Impact Observatory," and "High Energy Astrophysics Lab." These contributions prove that SAASST is playing a significant role in the UAE as a research institution in space sciences. This could not have been if it were not for the full support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah. His vision of making Sharjah a first-class educational Emirate is well showcased with the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, SAASST, and other scientific and educational institutions.
