SAASST 44th COSPAR Greece Participation

The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology has participated in COSPAR 44th General Assembly (July 16-24, 2022). Five laboratories, namely, the High Energy Physics lab, the Space AI Lab, the Meteorite Center, the CubeSat Lab, and the Radio Astronomy Lab, took part in this assembly by delivering talks and poster presentations.

SAASST’s representatives, Dr. Antonios Manousakis, Aisha Alowais, Fatima Alketbi, and Salem Alqahtani, have shared with the world the types of space sciences project SAASST works on. Such participation is essential to showcase the role played by the University of Sharjah in space and astronomy. Furthermore, such events promote global networking, which yields international collaborations, thereby expanding and building on current expertise.

Mrs. Aisha Alowais:

  • Multipurpose Approaches towards the Science of Meteorites
  • Utilization of Artificial Intelligence for Meteor and Meteorite Recognition

Mrs. Fatima Alketbi:

  • Technological Capacity Building Through the Sharjah-Sat-1 CubeSat Project

Mr. Salem Alqahtani:

  • Introducing the Sharjah Decametric Radio Telescope for Solar Radio Undergraduate Research
