SAASST Says Goodbye to the Last Batch of Interns

After eight weeks of hard work, the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology was ready to bid farewell to its interns by having them present their final work on July 21, 2022.

The event, which commenced at 10 a.m., included an opening speech by Prof. Ilias Fernini, followed by the interns’ final presentations. The first group to take to the stage was the Meteorite Center interns, who presented the equipment and applications to help them distinguish between a meteorite and a non-meteorite. The second group, the Space Artificial Intelligence laboratory interns’, guided us through their journey to gain their coding skills and showcase them in the equipment and applications provided to them in the lab. The third group, the CubeSat laboratory interns, were divided into two batches whose presentations contained extensive research into their respective projects, PolarSat and TerraSat. The fourth presenter from the Sharjah Optical Observatory covered the applications used to enhance the pictures taken with the telescope. Lastly, the English interns displayed their work, including writing social media posts, editing research papers, and conducting interviews. Afterward, Prof. Ilias Fernini congratulated the twenty interns on their achievements by handing out certificates marking the end of the SAASST Summer Internship 2022.
